It was a chilly Saturday morning, Kristina was on her daily three mile run around her neighborhood. Once she got back she ran into the house to quickly change out of her sweaty clothes and jump in the shower. After she got out of the shower, she got dressed and went into her room. The house was dead silent as she was trying to cram for a big test coming up on Monday and do some of the essays she was assigned. She had to finish as fast as she could so she go to the movies with a bunch of her friends in a couple of hours. Then suddenly her house was full of noises, here and there she would hear a door slam or footsteps throughout the house she got a little scared but it all the fear went away when she realized it was probably just her dog running around downstairs.
As the day went on in started to get warmer outside and for a while she didn’t hear anything until she heard a whisper of her name again and again “Kristina...Kristina...” they said. Her dog wandered into her room, which was fine until she heard the noises she thought were coming from her dog were going on downstairs. She knew no one was there but maybe her parents were home early from work. She quickly dialed her mom’s number. “Mom?” she said with a trembling voice “are you home?” Her mom told her that she was still at work but curiously asked her if she was okay and Kristina explained what was going on and her mom being concerned and all told her everything would be okay and she should just call her dad. She did just that but he was unfortunately out to lunch with customers so she had no idea who or what the mysterious noises were coming from. After hanging up the phone she looked around and her dog was nowhere to be found. Kristina was doing many things at once she was doing homework looking for her dog and trying to figure out where and what these sounds were coming from.
She finally brought up the courage to go look to see what was going on. She tip-toed downstairs and peered her head around the corner, only to find the worst. She saw the silverware drawer was wide open and all of the knives where gone. She assumed they were just in the dishwasher. She looked around her house and there were some unusual things she had no explanation to, there was boiling water on the stove, all of the doors were locked on the outside with no keys to be found, water was running in all of the bathrooms and he dog was nowhere to be found. Kristina started to uncontrollably freak out, she ran upstairs to get her phone but that was gone and the rest of the phones were oddly disconnected. The fresh air filled with the smell of smoke as if her house was on fire, it reminded her off when she lost her brother in a house fire. The fireman could only save one before it was too late and her brother gave up his life for hers, and every time she smells/sees smoke it reminds her of that horrible day. Kristina still had no idea what was going on, she started to go down to the basement because there is a wall phone down there. Right when she opened the door she heard sounds like nails on a chalkboard on the ceiling most likely coming from the attic. She walked up there to look. Then all of the sudden there was an ear-piercing scream coming from the basement. Startled she grabbed a knife and slowly went down the basement steps, to her surprise she didn’t see anything. Unaware of her surroundings Kristina went into a room and ran into something that felt like a person but she wasn’t sure because the lightbulb had burned out the year before. She felt an unusual pain on her right side she looked behind her the person like shape was gone and there was a knife plunged in her leg. She carefully touched the knife and slowly pulled it out cringing in pain. Clearly she knew she had to get out of the house she shattered a window a cautiously climbed through it. Since there was still glass on the edges some was falling, a piece fell and sliced her cheek. She could taste the blood dripping down her cheek onto her neck.
